In 2003, I received an exciting opportunity when Mick Pierce, a dedicated sales representative from Uponor, a prominent leader in the field of local heat distribution, plumbing, and innovative underfloor heating solutions, reached out to me. Mick extended an invitation to participate in a fascinating project—the Lymm water tower renovation. This endeavor was part of the renowned ‘Seven Year Makeover’ renovation television series, which was expertly hosted by the talented presenter Russell Harris. Recognizing the incredible potential to elevate my business's profile through this high-profile project, I eagerly accepted Mick's invitation. Committing to an extensive three-year engagement, I focused on a range of essential tasks, which included the meticulous installation of state-of-the-art underfloor heating systems, comprehensive plumbing work, and the transformation of ordinary spaces into luxurious and inviting bathrooms. This project not only allowed me to showcase my skills but also to collaborate with industry experts in a vibrant and challenging environment.

We are thrilled to announce that we were awarded the opportunity to work on this stunning kitchen project located in North Petherton, Somerset. Our client's decision to collaborate with us came after they were impressed by the exceptional quality of our work showcased in another large-scale project within the village. This exciting undertaking involved the careful demolition of a cavity wall that separated the existing kitchen from the single-storey dining room, allowing for a more open and inviting space. 

Our client had a clear vision for their home, and one of their primary goals was to elevate the 2.4-meter high ceiling, transforming it into a breathtaking vaulted ceiling for the dining room area. To ensure the structural integrity and design feasibility of this ambitious project, we engaged a skilled structural engineer. Their expertise was essential in determining the appropriate sizes of the timber beams and the necessary fixings required to bring our client's dream to life. This collaboration ensured that both aesthetics and safety were prioritized throughout the renovation process.

As mentioned in the previous section of our project overview, we received a specific request from our client to design and construct a timber vaulted ceiling that would adhere to the detailed specifications provided by the structural engineer. In addition to this stunning overhead feature, the structural engineer also conceptualized an innovative steel support system for the kitchen and dining room wall, which was set to be demolished as part of the renovation. This support structure was carefully crafted to include a top beam that spans the length of the opening, complemented by two robust columns positioned at either end of the top steel beam for added stability. Furthermore, a spreader beam was strategically placed below floor level, ensuring it rests securely on the original foundation of the demolished wall, thereby maintaining the integrity of the surrounding structure. To enhance the connection between the new support system and the existing walls, the columns were designed with tabs specifically intended for securement, providing additional strength and stability to the overall construction.
